We are recruiting for a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Secondary School dedicated to providing exceptional support and education for students with diverse needs. We are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. As an integral part of our support staff, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored assistance to students with SEMH needs, supporting their learning, development, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering differentiated lessons and activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, aiding their academic progress and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and external professionals to implement effective support strategies and interventions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student engagement, participation, and achievement.
  • Conduct welfare check-ins, interventions, and behaviour management techniques as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress, behaviour, and welfare.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant or similar role within a SEMH or SEN setting.
  • Relevant qualifications and training in supporting students with SEMH needs, such as Team Teach, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective support strategies, with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of students with SEMH needs.
