Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate PSHE Teacher to join an inclusive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Great Crosby. This unique school is specifically designed to meet the diverse needs of children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), autism (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and attachment difficulties (AD), within the age range of 7 to 16.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate PSHE lessons tailored to the specific needs of students with varying SEND requirements.
  • Provide differentiated instruction and support to students, considering their individual learning profiles, ensuring inclusivity for all.
  • Implement effective strategies to manage and support the behavioural challenges associated with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and AD, fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, educational psychologists, and support staff, to create a holistic support network for students.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans, setting realistic and achievable goals for each student.
  • Regularly assess and track the progress of students, using a range of assessment methods, and provide feedback to both students and parents/guardians.
  • Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of students, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment conducive to their overall development.
  • Engage in continuous professional development opportunities, staying updated on the latest teaching strategies and techniques for SEND students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly with students exhibiting SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and AD.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for behaviour management and social-emotional development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
