Interim SENCO needed in a SEMH School in Warwickshire from June 2024

A SEMH school in Warwickshire are looking for a dedicated SENCO to join their team 3 days per week, starting in June 2024 until January 2025.

This Forward-thinking and ambitious school is located in Meriden and caters for students aged 11 – 19 with social emotional mental health needs and related behaviours, who are struggle in large group setting. They are a small site who pride themselves in creating a trustworthy, motivating and nurturing atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged and inspired to achieve their potential and develop a love of learning. This ambitious and principled school always work to the best of their ability instilling a ‘can do’ attitude by encouraging others to share knowledge skills and expertise. In order to seek educational excellence, they maintain consistence with the approach to any issues they are faced with.

You will be responsible for providing advice training to classroom staff on supporting pupils with SEND, manage and advise on the school budget and resources for the SEND provision, develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records and helping to maximise usage of the existing materials to meet the needs of each individual child specifically children with SEND. It is important that you help and inspire the team to be the best that they can be!

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Experience in working with special needs (ASC, MLD, SEMH)
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children and young people.
  • QTS preferred but non-qualified candidates will be considered.
  • The NASENCO certificate is preferred but not required for this role.
  • Experience of using CPI (MAPA, Team Teach) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS registered or willing to acquire a new certificate.
  • Can effectively and fairly manage teams and delegate instructions.
  • Will be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support.
