The Graduate
To be successful in your English Academic Coach position, you will hold at least a bachelor’s degree in English Language, Literature, or a related field and will have a strong, comprehensive knowledge of the English field. It is essential that you have a friendly, warm personality, alongside the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner as a means of forming strong bonds with both students and staff. Whilst previous experience of working closely with children or students would be beneficial to you as you settle into your role as an English Academic Coach, it is not mandatory.
 
The Role
Your responsibilities in your time as an English Academic Coach position will include providing 1:1 and small group support to students aged 11-16 as they undergo the English GCSE national curriculum. You will also be monitoring and tracking pupil progression in order to adapt learning materials and devise support strategies to suit each individual’s needs. You will assist teaching staff in the planning of engaging lessons and in the creation of effective learning materials. At the forefront of your role will be the maintenance of a positive learning environment which you will achieve by adhering to safeguarding processes and getting actively involved in the activities of the wider school community.
