Student Support Officer – Attendance Lead

ASAP or September 2024 start 

5 days a week term time (37 hours)

A fantastic opportunity has come up at a popular Worcestershire based mainstream secondary school , with flexibility to start ASAP or the new academic year for September.

This role will enable the Attendance Lead to work as part of the Student Services Team, and provide support to the students, staff and families.

As an Attendance Lead, you are the first point of contact for families and students and therefore provide support for the pastoral system.

Key Responsibilities

  • As the school Attendance Lead, you will take the lead in recording, monitoring and reporting of attendance data.
  • Work as part of the Pastoral Team, other Student Support Officers and the Local Authority to promote excellent student attendance.
  • Assist the Local Authority in the process of legal action when all attempts to improve school attendance have failed.
  • Prioritise workload and meeting deadlines
  • Produce and analyse attendance reports/statistics
  • Call parents of absent students and work with the House team to formulate action plans
  • Lesson checks to determine any absent students
  • Build relationships with families
  • Provide services to students, for example, first aid (appointed person), managing loan of uniform from stock, managing lost property, ParentPay top ups, changes to student records, making phone calls home and providing initial pastoral support
  • Manage the process of confiscation, safe storage and return of mobile phones

What do you need to apply for the role as Attendance Lead

  • GCSEs Maths and English grade C or above, or equivalent
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake appropriate training
  • Understanding of and commitment to child protection procedures and safeguarding matters
  • Relevant experience / training in the use of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Good personal organisation
  • Commitment to achieving high standards
  • Use discretion to make confident and prompt decisions
  • Relevant experience of office administration and the full range of general office functions
