Employer Engagement /Alternative Provision Teacher

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist setting  in Sunderland and are looking for a capable and motivated Teacher for an exciting role ! The school is friendly and supportive than has an Ethos  heavily rooted in kindness and exceeding outcomes. 

The school caters for SEMH Pupils aged 11-16.

We are looking for an Employer engagement and Alternative Provision Teacher. This role is (phone number removed)pm Monday to Friday Term time only. This position has a strong possibility of turning into a permanant role for the right candidate ( after a qualifying period).This is an iMMEDIATE start position !

The Role-

  • You'll be accountable for the educational progress of a designated group of learners. This is full teaching responsibility including all preparation and planning.
  • You will manage a team of teaching assistants within your class
  • You will source and establish links with local employers in order to gain placements for your learners
  • Act as a support for learners in placement and the employers who are taking your learners to make sure placements go well
  • You will co-ordinate and review Alternative providers
  • You will conduct initial assessment and interview potential learners
  • You will be able to apply a range of teaching and learning styles and strategies
  • You will be confident and able to engage with pupils who have diverse needs - including de-regulated behaviour and reluctance to learn

The person

  • Must have a relevant UK recognised qualification
  • Experience in gaining work placements is desirable
  • Great relationship builder with both pupils and external agencies
  • DBS on the update service or willingness to complete an application 
  • Availabilty for at least a term
  • Fully checkable work History
  • SEMH experience or the passion and drive to work in this field.
