Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? We're currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in a Primary School in the North of Cardiff. This part-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children aged 3-6 with severe and complex needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Early Years Special Educational Resource Base within the Primary School.
  • Provide support to children with a variety of needs, including autism, global delay, and physical difficulties.
  • Assist with personal care duties, including nappy changing.
  • Work alongside experienced SEN teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in SEN education or care is preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and nurturing in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated resilience and adaptability to sudden changes in behaviour.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable with supporting personal care tasks.
  • Commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEN.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Makaton training (not essential)

Vetting Requirements:

  • Enhanced CHILD ONLY DBS (On the Update Service)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council as a School Learning Support Worker
  • 10-year career history with 2 years of suitable references
  • Right to Work document verification
